2008 Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction Shortlist Announced

The shortlist for this year's Orange prize for fiction was announced on April 15th. You can see the list here.

Three first novelists remain on the list along with three more seasoned authors. Chair of the judges Kirsty Lang said she was "extremely pleased" to see on the shortlist Sadie Jones's The Outcast, Heather O'Neill's Lullabies for Little Criminals and Patricia Wood's Lottery (available as a hardcover bargain book on Amazon.com for $6.99). These three authors share the list with some very established authors "on a list that reflects the scope, variety and international breadth of the Orange prize." The other three shortlisted books are When We Were Bad by Charlotte Mendelson, The Road Home by Rose Tremain (not currently available on Amazon.com) and Fault Lines by Nancy Huston (not currently available on Amazon.com). The winner will be announced at a ceremony in London's Royal Festival Hall on June 4.
