The Abstinence Teacher by Tom Perrotta (a review)
1.5 out of 5: This book explores the thematic crossroads of sexuality, abstinence, sex education, and religion in the context of a small-town battle between religious zealots and a pragmatic sex educator. The plot is simplistic and entirely predictable. Indeed, I don't recall a single thing happening in the book that I hadn't already predicted. This story and the way it is presented is not likely to challenge your preconceived ideas regarding sexuality, sex education, or anything else. The ending was extremely unsatisfactory in its incompleteness. The best I can say about this book is that it didn't annoy me that much and was mildly entertaining at times. Unless you are looking for an undemanding, quick reading experience, skip this one.
