Nabokov's Son Saves his Father's Last Work

Dmitri Nabokov, the 73-year-old son of Vladimir Nabokov, author of Lolita and other works, has finally reached a decision regarding his father's last work, The Original of Laura. On his deathbed, Vladimir commanded Dmitri to destroy the unfinished manuscript, which consists of only 50 index cards.

Dmitri explained his decision with this comment: "I'm a loyal son and thought long and seriously about it, then my father appeared before me and said, with an ironic grin, 'You're stuck in a right old mess - just go ahead and publish!'"

How convenient. See here for more extensive coverage.
