A Literary President?

Over at Salon.com, Laura Miller notes “If Obama is elected, he'll be one of the most literary presidents in recent memory.” Miller touches on the “two monkish years [Obama] spent finishing up his degree at Columbia University in New York” followed by his life in Chicago “like a retiring writer—spending many hours holed up in a spartan apartment with volumes of ‘philosophy and literature.’” Showing good taste, Obama names Philip Roth as an influence in his life.

What a novel concept! I wonder how things would have turned out if Mr. Bush had ever tried it out...just another reason I'm ready to Barack the vote.
