Indiespensable Volume 6

Volume 6 of Indiespensable, Powell’s subscription book club, is The Crow Road by Iain Banks. The details:
  • Hardcover first edition, with laid-in bookplate signed by the author, packaged in a custom, full-cloth slipcase.
  • Full-length CD of original music by Portland artists and a limited printing of Graeme Thomson's 40 greatest death songs of all time.
Powell’s says “less than 150 copies remain.” Grammatical nitpicks aside, I suspect this volume will sell out quickly, so sign up soon if you’re interested. This volume is currently scheduled to ship to subscribers on October 23rd (though past shipments dates have been known to slip a bit as the date approaches).

Did you read The Crow Road? I did a couple of years ago and rather liked it, but what has stayed with me most is the enormous amounts of whiskey consumed by everybody all the time. It made me feel almost hungover just reading it.
Nevertheless Ian Banks is a very interesting writer.

The Crow Road was just released here in the U.S. on Sept. 1st, so I haven't had a chance to read it. I'm a subscriber to Indiespensable, though, so my copy should arrive later this month. I'll be sure to pick up some whiskey before then.
