The Penguin Classics Reading Group has chosen its next reading selection: The Winter of our Discontent by John Steinbeck. Here is the description of the book from the Reading Group website:In this novel of moral crisis told entirely in the first person, Ethan Hawley must decide whether to put aside his own scrupulous standards in order to climb the economic ladder for the betterment of his family.
This choice seems appropriate given the current economic crisis. The discussion starts on October 23rd.

This is my favourite John Steinbeck novel. I know Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men are better writing but I loved this one when I first read it. I look forward to any comments or reviews of it.
