Today is Super Thursday in the UK

The British publishers think it’s a good idea to release around 800 new books on a single day (namely, October 1st). That's three times as many as normal. In a rather cryptic explanation of this event (dubbed "Super Thursday"), associate editor of the Bookseller magazine, Benedicte Page, comments that “for the bookselling market, certain dates are particularly propitious." Now that's a lot of books to release in one day! It seems a bit silly.
