Pitching the Book

Not surprisingly, the financial crisis currently facing the U.S. is already the subject of several book pitches. The New York Observer reports on these pitches:
  • Times business columnist Joe Nocera and former Fortune reporter Bethany McLean are planning to co-author "a definitive chronicle of the stunning financial crisis"
  • Newsweek’s Daniel Gross is planning "a quickie electronic book ... that would be published before the end of the year"
Obviously, publishers take a big risk when signing up such a book in the middle of the crisis. Who knows where things will go from here?
