The finalists for this year's Hugo Awards have been announced. The Hugos, first awarded in 1953, recognize excellence in the field of science fiction and fantasy. I don't usually pay attention to the Hugos, but this year the list of finalists includes Michael Chabon's The Yiddish Policeman's Union, which has also been nominated for an Edgar and a Nebula. This year's winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Saturday, August 9, during Denvention 3, the 66th World Science Fiction Convention.I'm pulling for Chabon on this one.

I'm pulling for Chabon, too! Though I've never read any of his books! Because he seems nice.
At least you've seen him at a reading, so you've heard short excerpts of this book. That's a good enough reason.
