The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao Snags the Pulitzer

The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Is this the right result? Also nominated as finalists were Tree of Smoke by Denis Johnson and Shakespeare's Kitchen by Lore Segal. Since I haven't had the opportunity to read either of these other finalists yet, I don't feel qualified to have an opinion, but I wasn't that impressed with Oscar Wao (see my review here). In my opinion, it's a good but not great book.
