Indiespensable Volume 4 Announced

I just got an e-mail from Powell’s this morning announcing an invitation-only pre-sale for Volume 4 of Indiespensable. According to the e-mail, Powell’s has “decided to give subscribers a special [pre-sale] opportunity” because “each new edition has sold out quicker than the last -- within five hours last time!” Volume 4 will not be available to the general public until July 10th. Powell’s says I may “tell my friends,” so I’m guessing they won’t have a problem with this post (I hope).

Here’s the description of the book:

The featured title is “Clown Girl,” a critically acclaimed debut novel (that we love*) by author Monica Drake. Published as a trade paperback original in 2007, it has never been published in hardcover. Until now...Powell's, in partnership with publisher Hawthorne Books, has commissioned a limited print run of 750 custom-designed, hardcover copies, available only to Indiespensable subscribers. The special edition has eight-page endpapers and is quarter-bound with blue Japanese T-Saifu cloth. The cover design includes black foil stamping on the front, back, and spine, combined with blind embossed elements on both the front and back. To complete the book design for this special edition is the arresting original paperback cover reproduced as a four-color tip-in and adhered to the front cover. This edition is truly a handsome book and a collector's pleasure.Only 750 copies of the hardcover have been printed, and they will be available exclusively to Indiespensable subscribers. Let your friends in on the
secret before they sell out!

*Upon its initial publication, a Powell's staff member called “Clown Girl,” “one of the most original and promising first novels to come out of Portland in ages.”
