Powell's Indiespensable

After getting a couple comments about Powell's Indiespensable, I figured it deserves another post. Go here for my prior post explaining what Indiespensable is.

I've been an Indiespensable subscriber since Volume 2, which means I've received Volumes 2 and 3. (Volume 1 sold out before I could sign up.) I love the program. In my opinion, Powell's does a fantastic job selecting good literary fiction for Indiespensable members, and the books are made even more collection-worthy by author signatures and, in some cases, special editions. I also like the extras Powell's throws in with every Indiespensable delivery.

To see my in-depth description of my Volume 2 delivery, go here.

If you don't like surprises and would rather control your own reading selections, Indiespensable probably is not a good fit for you. But if, like me, you enjoy the occasional reading surprise, you'll have fun with Indiespensable. I view it like a good friend giving me a thoughtful literary gift every 6 weeks. I like the randomness of not knowing what the next Indiespensable selection(s) will be, and I'm looking forward to the announcement of Volume 4.

Edited---> A fairy from Powell's has gifted us with the following information in response to my post questioning the continuation of Indiespensable:
Lurking here in Portland, Oregon -- ah, the wonders of Google blog alerts -- and wanted to let you know that Indiespensable is alive and well. Subscribers will be getting an email early next week about our 4th edition. For reasons that will become clear, we're very excited about this one. Hope you will be, too. Please let us know what you think! (And thanks very much for subscribing.)

I can't wait to hear what Volume 4 will be! Those of you interested should consider signing up before Volume 4 is announced, if it's not too late already.

Thanks for writing more about this, Gwen. I did look at Powell's site after your previous post, but forgot the INDIE in indiespensable (spelling it indispensable instead :) )
