Non-Fiction Book Takes the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize

In a rare event, a non-fiction book just won the John Llewellyn Rhys prize, which is awarded to the best work of literature (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or drama) by a UK or Commonwealth writer aged 35 or under. This year’s prize went to The Secret Life of Words by Henry Hitchings, the first non-fiction book to win the prize in six years. Hitchings work is described as “[a]n academic writing about the history of the English language.”
