Aravind Adiga Wins the 2008 Man Booker Prize
First-time novelist Aravind Adiga just won the 2008 Man Booker Prize for his novel The White Tiger. Arguably, the Booker Prize is the English-speaking world's most prestigious literary award. Adiga will receive £50,000 in prize money and will enjoy a significant sales boost.

This book has been on my radar for a while, but I'm not sure if I've read any reviews of it or not.
The jury this year went for readability and a good story, as one of the members stated earlier, when discussing the longlist. There's nothing wrong with eminently readable pageturners, but literary excellence seems not to have been a consideration and that's a shame.
I don't have any basis for comparing it to the other nominees, since I didn't read any of them, but here's my review from BookPage:

Also, a link to other published reviews from both sides of the Atlantic:

It's comforting to know that the book is merited for readability and a gripping plot. Two of my friends have given up. The ARC has been sitting on my desk waiting for its fate to be determined!
