Most Kindle Owners Over 40

CNET reports a recent survey that estimates 70% of Kindle owners are over 40 years old. This statistic is interesting when you consider most new electronic gadgets are first adopted by the young, but there are several unique factors at work here. For one thing, the Kindle's low weight, adjustable text size, ease of page turning, and wireless capabilities make the device ideal for people with physical challenges like vision impairments, arthritis, or restricted movement. For another thing, the Kindle's hefty $359 price tag likely shuts out some younger readers. And then there's all the news that reading is a dying activity among young people, many of whom prefer television, Internet surfing, or video games.
